Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he could not January 7 to get to the Hermitage, as he was closed. His words leads RIA Novosti on Tuesday, January 8.
According to him, if the branch network of the major museums would be more developed in the regions of Russia, the problems would not have arisen.
“Yesterday I wanted to go to the Hermitage, they say that the Hermitage is closed. Would have a branch here, in Kaliningrad, I would have come here,” he said during the meeting in Kaliningrad on the establishment of cultural-educational and Museum complexes in the regions of the country.
Traditionally on Mondays, the Museum complex is closed to the public.
In December 2014 Vladimir Putin on the day of the 250th anniversary of the Hermitage received the collection of the Museum gave him two exhibits — watches and egg-clock work of Carl Faberge. The President also called for the creation of regional branches of the St. Petersburg Museum in three cities of the Russian Federation.
