Neighbor of the St. Petersburg mathematician Grigory Perelman proved the poincaré conjecture, has dispelled the rumors of his distressed situation after the user saw it in the store and suggested that the scientist lives in poverty. On Wednesday, January 9, writes “Moskovsky Komsomolets”.
According to the woman, Perelman leads a secluded life, and if facing the street, take all measures to avoid being recognized. “The help he needs. And if needed, you would hardly shout about it, and especially to accept money or gifts from strangers,” — said neighbor of mathematics, adding that after this “hype” he’s probably long out of the house.
Another source noted that scientists communicate his colleagues and often offer him a job, but Perelman always refuses any support.
Previously, the Facebook user posted a post, in which he told me that he saw Perelman in the store. He noticed that, judging by the “terrifying” appearance of the scientist, he “dies in solitude and poverty,” and he faces starvation. Internet users have offered to provide math help. The author later deleted the account.
Perelman gained international fame in March 2010 after the clay Mathematics Institute awarded him the Millennium Prize and one million dollars for proof of the Poincare conjecture, one of seven “Millennium problems”. Perelman did not receive the award. In 2006, he also refused the most prestigious award in mathematics — fields medal prize.
