The Russians have set a new record for the procurement of passenger cars. This is evidenced by the updated data of “AUTOSTAT”, who is quoted by RIA Novosti.
By 2018 the capacity of the Russian car market exceeded of 2.38 trillion rubles, which is higher than the previous record from 2013, when the Russians are also purchased for future use in anticipation of the crisis. Then the capacity of the market amounted to 2.37 trillion rubles, in 2012, the capacity of the market amounted to 2.34 trillion rubles.
Growth of market capacity, the experts of “AUTOSTAT” associated with the growth of the average prices for one car. In 2014 this figure rose to 57 percent. They note that quantitatively the number of new car sales in 2014 fell by 36 percent, but the capacity of the market pulled the rise in the price of the car.
“In 2018 the weighted average (adjusted market share) price of new passenger cars in Russia grew by 8-8. 5 percent, up to 1.44-1.45 million rubles, and in 2019 this figure could grow by 5 percent from 2018,” — said the Executive Director of “AUTOSTAT”, Sergei Udalov.
According to him, one of the main reasons for the growth of market capacity in 2018 is growth of the value added tax (VAT) from 1 January 2019 from 18 to 20 percent. Prices in the market restrains only competition, says Udalov.
At the end of 2018 the largest car manufacturers and dealer networks have begun to warn the Russians that in 2019 the price of cars will go up due to the increase VAT. Then the growth of prices has warned Mitsubishi, AVTOVAZ, Nissan, Audi, Hyundai, Volvo.
