The former Minister of defence DND called in for questioning in Kiev

The General Prosecutor of Ukraine was summoned for questioning former Minister of defence self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s Republic (DNR) Igor Girkin (strelkov). The announcement is posted on the website of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s office.

Girkin ordered to arrive at the building of the Main military Prosecutor’s office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine (Kiev, Aviakonstruktora Antonova street, 2A, office 58) on 14 and 17 January at 09:00 local time (10:00 GMT).

He is suspected of committing crimes under part 1 article 258-3 (“Creation of terrorist group or terrorist organization”), part 3 of article 258 (Terrorist act), part 1 of article 294 (“Mass riots”), article 341 (“Capture of state or public buildings or constructions”), article 348 (“the Encroachment on life of the employee of law enforcement body”) and article 349 (“the Capture of a representative of authority or a law enforcement officer as a hostage”) Criminal code of Ukraine.

The criminal case against Girkin-strelkov was initiated by the law enforcement bodies of Ukraine in the spring of 2014. Then he came to Eastern Ukraine, where along with supporters occupied the city of Slavyansk, announcing the transition of the settlement under the control of the DNI. In may, a Russian citizen, was appointed defense Minister of the breakaway Republic. In early July of the same year, after a fierce battle for Slavyansk with its garrison of Strelkov retreated to Donetsk, and a month later resigned and returned to Russia.
