The Ukrainian authorities decided not to send official condolences of Russia in connection with events in Magnitogorsk, where, after a gas explosion collapsed the house. This is stated in the reply of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine at the request of the Agency “Ukrainian news”.
“In connection with Your request of January 3, 2019, we inform you that official condolences to the leadership of the Russian Federation in connection with the tragedy in the city of Magnitogorsk, on behalf of the state leadership of Ukraine was not sent”, — stated in the document, which bears the signature of the Director of the Department of counteraction to threats from Russia (created in the structure of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry in February 2016) Andrei Plahotniuc.
According to the MFA information, the last time official condolences abroad was brought by the leadership of Ukraine on 31 October 2018. Then the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has sent condolences to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo in connection with the crash of the Boeing airline Lion Air, which killed 178 people.
The collapse of the staircase in one of the houses of Magnitogorsk took place on 31 December. The incident killed 39 people. Main version of an event called explosion of household gas.
