Over the next two years, the independence of Belarus will be tested “to the tooth”. With such statement on Friday, January 11, was made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.
“For our country, for our people not only to 2019, but the year 2020 will be difficult”, — said the head of the Republic.
According to Lukashenko, in the next two years the country will be “very trying to the tooth”. “On the subject of whether we, concretely, the independence that we always and everywhere speak,” — said the Belarusian leader. However, he did not specify how and who will raise the issue of independence of the Republic.
“And we need to be prepared to answer this question. I am absolutely convinced that we will find an adequate response,” — concluded Lukashenko.
For 2018, the Belarusian leader has repeatedly broached the issue of the independence and sovereignty of the Republic. So, in December last year, Lukashenko assured that his state will never become part of Russia, and the concept of sovereignty is for the country of the Holy Ghost. However, he said, he received a direct proposal to join the state in Russia, “six regions”.
In the same month, Belarusian media reported about the alleged closed meeting of the Belarusian establishment regarding the protection of state sovereignty. The press-Secretary Lukashenko has denied this information, stressing that the issue of independence in Belarus “decided long ago”.
