Chechen gays warned about the threats of new persecutions, and called to run

In Chechnya, resumed the persecution of gays, according to “Novaya Gazeta”, citing sources and activists of the “Russian LGBT network”.

In the Republican interior Ministry argued that the men shot while trying to attack Chechen police, but the data was not confirmed by forensic findings, according to which men are killed by close range shots to the head.

About the mass persecution of gays in Chechnya became known in April 2017. “Novaya Gazeta” reported that during the two waves of the Chechen security forces detained hundreds of suspected homosexuality and put them in “secret prisons” where they were beaten, tortured with electricity, demanded to disclose the names of their partners.
