In Chechnya, resumed the persecution of gays, according to “Novaya Gazeta”, citing sources and activists of the “Russian LGBT network”.
According to the newspaper, the case is subject to the public warning that in the Republic “broke out again catch tenovyh boys and girls”, and calls “as soon as possible to flee the Republic.”
Earlier it became known that two residents of Chechnya Shoto-Shamil Akayev and Ayub Ibragimov, who were detained during the campaign against the Chechen homosexuals and sent to “prison gay” found dead with a bullet through his head. In the Republican interior Ministry argued that the men shot while trying to attack Chechen police, but the data was not confirmed by forensic findings, according to which men are killed by close range shots to the head.
About the mass persecution of gays in Chechnya became known in April 2017. “Novaya Gazeta” reported that during the two waves of the Chechen security forces detained hundreds of suspected homosexuality and put them in “secret prisons” where they were beaten, tortured with electricity, demanded to disclose the names of their partners. Openly spoke about torture gay Maxim Lapunov was forced to leave Russia. However, the Republican government was denying the existence and persecution of gays in Chechnya. To check the information about the violation of the rights of homosexuals in the North Caucasus, the OSCE sent a mission to Chechnya and the audit released a report threatening Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov court in the Hague.
