The Chairman of the German Committee on Eastern European economic relations Wolfgang Buchele said that the damage to the anti-Russian sanctions, is on the order of 100 billion euros, Reuters reports.
He recommended that German companies continue cooperation with Russia, noting the fuzzy nature of us sanctions. “We need Russia and Russia needs us” — quoted by TASS Buchele.
The head of the Committee also predicted that under current conditions of business with Russia will be in a state of stagnation in 2019.
According to him, the whole EU needs a new strategy in relations with Russia. The rejection of dialogue will not lead to greater security, concluded Buchele.
The German business representatives have repeatedly criticized US plans to expand anti-Russian sanctions. So, in December it was reported that two-thirds of German companies operating in Russia, have endorsed the idea of creating a payment system independent of the dollar.
