US policy against Venezuela is a “blatant encroachment on the sovereignty” of this country. This is stated in the comments of the Department of information and press of MFA of Russia in connection with the inauguration of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The foreign Ministry also drew attention to the manifestation of a selective and politicized approach of other countries to Caracas. The Department cited the example of the initiative to engage the inter-American democratic Charter, while after the coup in Ukraine “a number of countries, including the most active advocates of dempartii, spoke against” Russia’s proposal to make a universal principle of prohibition of unconstitutional change of government.
“We are convinced that it is absolutely hopeless way. It is impossible to provoke further division in Venezuelan society”, — stated in the message.
Maduro took office for a second term on January 10. The oath ceremony was held in the Supreme court and not Parliament the majority of deputies who represent the opposition.
