The United States to discuss with Russia the situation of Kurds in Syria, if necessary. This statement was made by the US presidential Advisor for national security John Bolton in an interview with journalist Hugh Hewitt.
According to Bolton, the Kurds in Syria are in a very difficult situation. He added that the American leader Donald trump spoke to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the Kurds are allies of Washington and the United States should make sure that they will not suffer during the withdrawal of the military from Syria. “That’s what we’re talking about with Turkey. We could have talked about this with Russia, if necessary,” — said the assistant to the President.
In conversation with Hewitt he also said that the US concerns in the region are not only possible actions Ankara and Moscow, since Russia “might want to occupy the territory in the North-East of Syria.”
January 10, Erdogan said that the planned Turkish operation in North-Eastern Syria will be held regardless of the withdrawal of us troops from the region.
January 6, Bolton said that the U.S. military did not leave the North-Eastern part of Syria as long as Turkey will not agree not to pursue living in the territory of the Kurds.
Trump has declared victory over the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) in Syria and ordered the U.S. military to leave the country on December 19. A few days later he offered to take care of the rest in the region of the terrorists to other countries, including Turkey.
In the same month, Erdogan announced a new operation against terrorists in North-Eastern Syria. Terrorists Ankara classifies as IG, and representatives of the Kurdish party Democratic Union (PYD) and its armed “people’s protection Units” (YPG), who control territory in Northern Syria and who are supported by Washington.
