The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Patriarchate of Constantinople had not received Tomasi because they were created on the basis of the decisions of councils. About this in Facebook wrote Deputy head of the Department for external Church relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) MP Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich.
“If President Poroshenko have already become so skilled in tomasak, then maybe he would have to start proposed to the Constantinople Patriarchate to show your Tomos? If he gave Tomos Ukraine, is it him?” — answered Danilevich. According to him, “not a single Tomos alive Orthodoxy”: in ancient times the Church was guided by the decision of Church councils, as in the case of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
He explained that the Russian Orthodox Church received Autocephalous and Patriarchal status in 1589 by the Patriarch of Constantinople Jeremiah II, and in 1593 this was approved by the pan-Orthodox Council of Constantinople. Danilevich says that none of the ancient churches is not Thomas, as in Church practices they appear in the XIX century.
Poroshenko’s words and commented the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, who on condition of anonymity, spoke with the publication of RT. He drew attention to the President’s intervention in the Affairs of the Church and decided that it will not bring anything good to the Ukrainian state. “Statements of a political leader to leave the impression that he probably considers himself a religious leader, who has the right to put questions that relate to the purely religious sphere,” he said.
Earlier, on January 13, the Ukrainian leader doubted the canonicity of the Russian Orthodox Church and offered to show her your Tomos. “Right now our Church is canonical, and let them [the ROC] will understand, will show Tomos. And where their Tomos? Stalin signed?” he said. Poroshenko added that nobody has the right to determine which Church canonical, and which are not.
