Russia sees no obstacles for introducing a visa-free regime with Japan. This was stated by Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the head of the foreign Ministry, the parties still remain divided on the issue of a peace Treaty, and the positions were originally diametrically opposed. “But the political will of our leaders to fully normalize relations between Russia and Japan this encourages us to intensify the dialogue”, — he said.
He also noted that without recognition of Tokyo of Russia’s sovereignty over the Kuril Islands is difficult to count on progress in the negotiations.
