The Minister of education Olga Vasilyeva said in an interview to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” about the need to break the existing system of preparation of pupils for Unified state exam (use).
“What you need to deal with is the coaching. Today we are at the end of the ninth grade continue to learn and begin to prepare for the exam. This system must be broken,” — said Vasilyev.
In an example she cited England, where the preparation is similar to single state exam is only for the optional classes.
On the abolition of the exam, according to Vasilyeva, not a speech, as “this is really an objective and transparent method to assess the knowledge of graduates.” As confirmation, the Minister cited statistics according to which 70 percent of students of budgetary branches of leading Russian universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg — out of town.
“Before the introduction of the exam, the situation was the opposite,” — said Vasilyev.
She added that in the exam as almost all of the tasks with multiple choice answer, therefore, criticism based on the assertion that the test may not give the same quality of a view on the level of knowledge, as an oral exam, more inappropriate. “In addition, for the first time this year in ninth grade, the boys pass an oral interview. In 2019 graduates of the 11th class will take two compulsory subjects: Russian language and mathematics. Next year will be testing a mandatory exam in English, and the future plans of the Ministry of education to introduce compulsory history exam.
