Russian President Vladimir Putin compared the body of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin in the mausoleum with the relics of Christian saints. He told this in an interview for the film “Balaam”, an excerpt of which was shown on TV channel “Russia 1”, RIA Novosti reported.
The head of state noted that the attitude of Communists to Lenin is very similar to the veneration of saints. “Put in the mausoleum. How is this different from the relics of the saints for Orthodox Christians, but just Christians? When I say that no, in Christianity there is no such tradition, well, of course not,” he said.
According to the President, the Communist ideology is very similar to Christianity: “liberty, equality, fraternity, justice is all laid out in Scripture, it’s all there is.” “There were some very hard years of the godless, when he killed the priests, destroyed temples. But at the same time creating a new religion. (…) And the code of the Builder of communism? It’s sublimation, it’s just such a primitive is an excerpt from the Bible, have not invented anything new,” — says Putin.
In his opinion, the Soviet authorities adapted their ideology under pre-existing.
In December 2017, it was reported that the number of Russians consider it necessary to bury Lenin, has declined. For it made 41 percent of survey participants, compared to 58 percent in March-April.
In early November, to bury the Soviet leader urged the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
The embalmed body of Lenin is kept in the mausoleum since 1924.
