The authorities of Belarus from January 17, administered for 90 days by the state regulation of prices for white sugar. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Antimonopoly regulation and trade of the Republic.
Limitations the Ministry has explained sharp growth of imports, reducing the demand for local goods and lower production volumes. Adopted in December 2017 the decree imposes limit minimum prices: manufactured in the Republic or imported sugar can not cost less than a half of Belarusian rubles (42,5 Russian rubles) per kilogram.
Writes tut.by citing market participants, the reason for the restrictions was the Russian sugar, which is much cheaper than Belarusian. According to retailers, Krasnodar manufacturers offer wholesale purchase of sugar 0,89 Belarusian ruble, and Bryansk — 0.9 ruble.
According to Belstat, in January-October 2017 the volume of import of Russian sugar to Belarus increased 7.9% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 30.3 million dollars.
