President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on the exclusion from the legislation and use of the term “disabled.” This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian leader.
The term “disabled person” will be replaced with the term “person with disabilities”. The document “On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine” adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on December 19 and signed by the President, involves changes in the 37 laws of Ukraine.
Now one excludes the terms “disabled”, “disabled child” and “disabled veteran” and replaced with “person with disabilities”, “child with a disability” and “person with a disability as a result of war,” respectively.
It is noted that this law brings the norms of the current legislation in accordance with the provisions of the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities. In addition, with the introduction of the use of the term “person with disabilities” emphasis on man and not on his disability, explained the press service Poroshenko.
In November last year, Luxembourg Herald, citing a source in the Ministry of justice of Ukraine reported that the President’s wife Marina Poroshenko may be involved in the theft of funds allocated to USA and European countries as humanitarian aid for disabled children. According to the publication, in different regions of the country were recorded in bogus funds that it received. After receiving the money funds the transfer of funds on the accounts of companies and then closed.
