Members of the ISS crew Alexander Misurkin and Anton shkaplerov unwittingly broke the record of work in the Russian space suits in space. They held outside the station 8 hours 13 minutes, to them the maximum time was 8 hours and 7 minutes, reports “Interfax”.
Astronauts had to replace receiving equipment antenna module “Zvezda”. It will provide almost round-the-clock two-way flow of information on the Russian segment of the Earth, through domestic satellites relay system “Luch”, reports TASS.
It was planned that the Misurkin and Shkaplerov will spend in space of 6 hours 40 minutes. When removing the old receiver, who served 17 years, they encountered difficulties, since the launch of the “Star” does not imply that equipment will change. The astronauts barely unscrewed.
The previous record of being in open space in December 2013 put Oleg Kotov and Sergei Ryazansky.
