The IOC is thinking about excluding Boxing from the Olympic games program

The international Olympic Committee (IOC) thinking about, to exclude Boxing from the Olympic program of games of 2020. This was announced by the IOC President, Thomas Bach, reports TASS.

According to Bach, the Committee is concerned about the situation in the International Boxing Association (AIBA). The duties of the President of AIBA takes Gafur Rakhimov, who took office after a series of permutations that has caused concern among the IOC. Bach said that the Committee began its investigation in relation to the management of the Association.

“The IOC Executive Board is concerned about the situation in the leadership of AIBA. We can confirm the opening of an investigation against the leadership of AIBA. The IOC Executive Board also freezes all contacts with AIBA except operational issues, which are necessary to implement the decisions of the IOC,” said Bach.

According to TASS, at the end of 2017 head of AIBA Ching-Kuo Wu, has resigned after allegations of the deterioration of the financial situation of the organization. He was replaced by Vice-President of the Association Franco Falcinelli, who quickly abandoned this position.

Boxing included in the Olympic program since 1904. Prior to the Games in Rio de Janeiro in the competition were allowed to participate only to Amateur athletes, with 2016 in the fight for Olympic medals joined professionals.
