President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach said that the question of the admission of acquitted Russian athletes will be resolved within two days. The words of the functionary on Sunday, February 4, leads TASS.
“We hope that the IOC, under the leadership of Valerie Fourneyron will consider the question of inviting the Russians in no time, despite the fact that not received the reasoning of the decision of the CAS. I think the final decision will be announced in the next couple of days,” said Bach.
According to the President of the IOC, the decision of the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) acquitted 28 barred for life of Russians, shows the need for reforms in the organization. “This decision is a great disappointment and surprise to us. The panel is not told to us a full wording of the decision, we were told that this will happen at the end of February, and we find that extremely disappointing. The IOC is fully satisfied with the decision of the CAS. This decision shows the need for reform of CAS, in particular in the control system,” said Bach.
Earlier, the Russian Olympic Committee asked the IOC to allow Games 13 athletes, whose appeal upheld CAS: skeleton sliders Alexander Tretyakov, Elena Nikitina, Maria Orlova, skiers Alexander passenger cars, Yevgeny Belov, Maxim Vylegzhanin, Alexander Immortal, Yevgeny Shapovalov, Natalia Matveeva, skaters Olga Fatkulina, Alexander Rumyantsev, Artem Kuznetsov and sanochnitsa Tatyana Ivanova.
On 3 February it was reported that the court of Switzerland rejected the claim of the six Russian athletes to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for refusal to issue invitations to the Games.
The Olympic games will be held in Pyeongchang from 9 to 25 February.
