In the opening ceremony of the Olympic games in South Korea’s Pyeongchang will participate 70-75 Russian athletes. About it reports TASS.
“Given the fact that some athletes begin competition the next day after the opening, but many have not yet arrived in Pyongyang, our delegation at the ceremony will participate 70-75 people. Among them players of the hockey team, snowboarding, Luge, and skiers and jumpers from a springboard, representatives of freestyle, ski racing, bobsled and skeleton, speed skating,” said the information office of the Olympic Committee of Russia.
On 5 February it became known that seven Russian teams refused to participate in the opening ceremony. At the Olympic stadium in Pyeongchang will not appear biathlonists, hockey players, figure skaters, short-track athletes, Luge, curlers and skiers from Russia.
The opening ceremony will take place on 9 February at 14:00 Moscow time. The flag bearer of the team “Olympic athletes of Russia”, acting under the Olympic flag, will be a volunteer appointed by the organizing Committee of the Games.
