More details emerged of the arrest of Russians for keeping corals in Thailand

The Russian Embassy in Thailand is trying to figure out the details of the incident with detention of Russians in Phuket for keeping corals. This was told by head of the consular Department of the Embassy Vladimir Sosnov, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier it was reported about the detained one. However, on Monday, February 5, it became known that the case involves two girls. Them accuse of storage of corals without official permission. Currently the Russian Consulate is trying to figure out what happened with the girls after the arrest.

“We do not have with them the telephone, as apparently they have no hands on mobile phones. The mother of one of the detainees contacted on Saturday with the duty of the Embassy and reported that both girls temporarily released on bail, but confirmation of this information we have yet. Honorary Consulate in Phuket is currently checking this information,” — said the diplomat.

The Consul said that the expectation of the court in accordance with Thai law may take up to 78 days. For keeping corals with Thai law the penalty of 20 thousand baht (more than 36 thousand rubles) or a year in prison.
