Six Russian teams refused to participate in the opening ceremony of the Olympics

The Russian team at the biathlon will not participate in the opening ceremony of the Olympic games in 2018. This was announced by coach Ricco gross, reports on Monday, February 5, “Sport-Express”.

In addition to biathletes had declined players (team is at the training camp in the city of Anyang), skaters (athletes participating in team competition), short-track athletes and Luge (the next day after opening they have to go on the ice) and team Curling (team will fly to South Korea the next day after the ceremony).

The opening will take place on 9 February at the Olympic stadium in Pyeongchang. Only South Korea will come 169 of the Russian athletes, who will perform under the Olympic flag and the special status of “Olympic athlete from Russia.” The flag bearer at the ceremony will be a volunteer appointed by the organizing Committee of the Games.

Earlier, on 5 February, the Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) under the leadership of Valerie Fourneyron refused to issue invitations 13 Russian athletes and 2 coaches, which the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) acquitted 1 February. According to the President of the IOC Thomas Bach, the Commission considered anonymous data about the athlete.
