Two residents of the Chinese city of Tianchang, Anhui province, was fined for the destruction of money. This reports the South China Morning Post.

The incident occurred January 24 at one of the restaurants of the city. After drinking men argued about who of them is more wealthy. One of them suggested another way to burn their money and thereby prove their wealth.

His companion agreed, took out a banknote of 100 yuan (900 rubles) and set it on fire. “I thought we were going to burn from 500 yuan, — said first and lit their own bills. — And no money — better to be silent”. The total amount of destroyed money is not called.

One of the visitors of the restaurant filmed the incident on video. Police used the tapes to establish the identity of the disputants. Since China prohibits the deliberate defacing of money, both men were fined 1,000 yuan (9020 rubles).
