President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach said that the Russian athletes who will take part in the Olympic games 2018, will be an example of intolerance towards doping. The words of the functionary leads TASS on Monday, February 5.
“Invited to the Games, the Russian athletes can be ambassadors for a new generation of models for change in the culture of Russian sports. They can show their colleagues that if you clean, no sanctions for violations of other you will not be applied,” said Bach.
According to the President of the IOC, the ad hoc group will monitor the Russians during the Games, and then make recommendations. “Everything now depends on the Russian side and from that, whether they want to return to the Olympic movement,” Bach said, noting that the Committee remains “an anchor of stability,” despite the corruption and doping scandals.
Earlier, on 5 February the Commission the IOC on the admission of Russians in the Game has refused to issue invitations 13 athletes and 2 coaches, which the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) acquitted 1 February. According to Bach, the Commission considered anonymous data about the athlete.
The Olympic games will be held from 9 to 25 February. In the opening ceremony, which will take place in Pyeongchang, will not participate a number of Russian athletes.
