One of the largest divisions of the U.S. Department of defense — military traffic Management — failed to properly document the hundreds of millions of dollars of costs. This became known after an internal audit, according to Politico.
British audit and consulting company Ernst & Young found that the Pentagon failed to properly execute the statements about spent on construction projects 800 million dollars. The publication stresses that the Agency, despite a mandate from the U.S. Congress, has never undergone a complete revision.
Auditors found that errors in accounting were at least 465 million dollars. The money was allocated for construction projects for the army corps of engineers the U.S. and other structures. Another 384 million was earmarked for projects under construction. Also, there are no data on the use of equipment computer systems units, which cost is estimated at $ 100 million.
The head of Darrell Williams said he was not surprised by these test results. “Now it is necessary to use the auditor’s insights and focus our efforts on correcting the situation and developing a plan of action to remove from the test the maximum benefit,” he said.
On 27 January it was reported that the President of the United States Donald trump will propose to the Congress a draft defense budget for 2019. The plan is to increase spending on defense by 13 percent compared to last year to 716 billion dollars.
