The Prosecutor’s office of Autonomous Republic of Crimea (part of the General Prosecutor’s office) reported on the criminal case against visiting Peninsula of German citizens in the Crimea. This was reported on the website of the Department.

The case was instituted under part 1 of article 332-1 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (“violation of the order of entry in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine”).

The Prosecutor’s office had “established that on 3 February 2018 in violation of a certain order of entry in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and departure from it, in the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea arrived citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany, which had planned to use his trip to meet with representatives of the Russian occupying authorities to discuss with them ways of establishing contacts with the German side”.

Earlier it was reported that on 3 February, on the Peninsula there arrived deputies of regional parliaments of the German party “Alternative for Germany” — Berlin, Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia. They will meet with the head of the Republic, representatives of national-cultural associations, and going to “establish partnerships with the Crimea”.

In Berlin deputies criticized, but did not punished, because, according to these parliamentarians, they are in the Crimea with a private trip.

In March 2014 in the Crimea held a referendum in which over 90 percent of voters supported its reunification with Russia. In the same month, the relevant law was signed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Most Western Nations do not recognize Crimea as part of Russia and consider the results of the illegal referendum that was the basis for the imposition of sanctions. Moscow insists that the Peninsula became part of the country legally.
