Former U.S. Secretary of defense William Perry regrets the fact that NATO bombarded Yugoslavia in 1999. About this former official said in Moscow at the presentation of his book “My way to the edge of the nuclear abyss,” reports RIA Novosti.

According to Perry, he especially worries about “unintended bombing of the Chinese Embassy”.

During the air strikes of the North Atlantic Alliance against Yugoslavia he has not led the Pentagon. The NATO military operation against Yugoslavia began on 24 March 1999 and lasted 78 days. According to the Alliance, aviation unit made 38 thousand sorties, over 10 thousand of them were committed with the aim of bombing attacks.

According to Belgrade, the victims of the attacks were from 3,5 to 4 thousand people, 10 thousand were injured.

The bombing destroyed the building of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade. Then killed three people.

William Perry was Secretary of defense from 1994 to 1997.
