In the court of first instance of the Tribunal of Lausanne with a claim to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) turned 32 Russian athlete. On 6 February, reports TASS.
Among the athletes who decided to challenge the IOC decision in a judicial order, — winner of the gold medal at the Games in Sochi biathlete Anton Shipulin and six-time Olympic champion in short track Viktor An.
“As grounds for a claim provided the opaque nature of the applied criteria, discrimination on the basis of citizenship, unlawful decisions, and failure to comply with the verdict of CAS, damage of reputation, dignity and professional career. In order to avoid irreparable consequences athletes demanded urgent interim measures. The lawsuit contains a request for a hearing in the Lausanne court on 7 February 2018,” — said in a statement the Swiss law Schellenberg Wittmer Ltd company.
On 5 February, the IOC announced the rejection of the Russian athletes for the Olympic games in 2018, despite the decision of the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS), terminated their lifetime disqualification. Earlier, the IOC decided for life to dismiss local athletes from the Games for violating anti-doping rules at the Olympics in Sochi. Direct evidence of the guilt of the athletes in the Committee failed.
Olympic games in Pyeongchang will start on 9 February.
