Eight-time Olympic champion and 20-time world champion in biathlon OLE Einar Bjoerndalen will participate in the haulage of skis for the Belarusian team. About it on air of TV channel “Belarus 5” stated senior coach of the national team Yuri Albers, BelTA has learned.
January 15 it became known that the 43-year-old Bjoerndalen was not included in the final composition of the Norwegian team to the Olympics in Pyeongchang. He failed to meet the requirements of selection, and the coaches of the national team gave preference to those who have shown higher results in the course of the season.
He later acknowledged that he had not earned the right to compete at the Olympics, and apologized to the fans.
On January 30 it became known that Bjoerndalen was part of the coaching staff of the national team of Belarus, but its functionality at the time was not determined.
Bjoerndalen married to Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva. She successfully qualified for the Games and expressed the hope that the spouse will be able to go to Pyeongchang and to support it.
