The tomb of Gaddafi’s mother blew up



The vault, which previously rested mother of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was blown up in Libya. It is reported by news portal Al Wasat.

According to him, the tomb of Aisha Gaddafi, 40 kilometers West of Sirte was seriously injured by unknown militants on the morning of 6 February. It was destroyed by door and window openings. The building was damaged even before the attackers and during an air strike.

TASS notes that the graves of relatives of Gaddafi have been desecrated and destroyed almost immediately after the violence against him in 2011. The militants desecrated the tombs of his parents and uncle and two relatives who were buried in the family vault. They ruined tombstones, and the remains were removed and burned. The body of the Colonel was secretly buried in the Libyan desert.

Muammar Gaddafi was killed by NATO-supported rebels on 20 October 2011. After his death Libya is actually split into several areas that control different factions.
