The Ambassador of Ukraine in Germany Andrey Melnik in his Twitter said that he spent “educational conversation” with the leadership of the German party, whose representatives visited the Crimea.
“I had to perform the unpleasant but useful mission, right brain leadership of the faction “Alternatives for Germany” in the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for criminal voyage to the Crimea, their adventurous colleagues think, our cold shower worked. The party publicly distanced himself from it,” wrote Miller.
February 5, the Prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (part of the General Prosecutor’s office) reported on the criminal case against visiting Peninsula citizens of Germany. The case was instituted under part 1 of article 332-1 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (“violation of the order of entry in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine”).
Two days earlier, on the Peninsula there arrived deputies of regional parliaments of the German party “Alternative for Germany” — Berlin, Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia. In their program of stay in the Crimea was included a meeting with the head of the Republic, representatives of national-cultural associations, and “establishment of partnership relations with the Crimea”. The MPs will stay in Crimea until 9 February.
In Berlin deputies criticized, but did not punished, because, according to the parliamentarians, they visited the Peninsula on a private visit.
In March 2014 in the Crimea held a referendum in which over 90 percent of voters supported its reunification with Russia. In the same month, the relevant law was signed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Most Western Nations do not recognize Crimea as part of Russia and consider the results of the illegal referendum that was the basis for the imposition of sanctions. Moscow insists that the Peninsula became part of the country legally.
