Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko commented on the decision of the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) not to allow Russian athletes to participate in the Olympic games 2018 in Pyeongchang. His words leads TASS.
“This decision, of course, others could not be. The formula of the invitation is such that it is extremely difficult to challenge, despite the fact whether all violations. The court and followed it. The procedure of not allowing opaque, and adds the organization’s credibility in the eyes of the fans,” — said Mutko.
Deputy Prime Minister compared the procedure of the invitation to the Olympics with used private club tournaments: “It’s still the Olympic games. All this will reduce competition and attention to the games.”
The international Olympic Committee supported the decision not to allow Russian athletes to the Olympics. According to representatives of the Committee, the verdict is important for the whole Olympic movement.
Earlier, on February 9, CAS did not satisfy the appeal of 45 members of the Russian delegation at the non-admission to the Olympic games in Pyeongchang. The court refused to consider the removal of the Russians is unfair, calling it a “fair decision.”
