Terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia) lost a significant part of the sources of income. However, the militants continue to seek “new sources of recharge.” In particular, we are talking about online stores and online casinos. This was stated by Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, reports “Interfax”.

“Honed skills in using modern technologies. For example, in one of the bordering countries of Syria, the supporters of terrorists are kidnapping funds of ordinary citizens using fake online stores,” he explained.

According to the diplomat, to the end of 2017 IG received not more than two million dollars a month from illegal turnover of oil and gas, the total income of the fighters has fallen to three million dollars. Nebesa noted that the group was deprived of access to hydrocarbon deposits and the channels of their transportation and sale. This was achieved thanks to the “successful actions of the Syrian army with the support of the VKS Russia”, said the Ambassador. Any other evidence, except the diplomat, not given.

According to research by the world Bank in 2014-2015, ISIS could receive up to 28 million dollars a week from oil sales. In 2014, the total revenue of the group amounted to 1.9 billion dollars in two years — 870 million.
