“Naftogaz of Ukraine” risks again to fulfill obligations to “Gazprom” — the parameters volume of gas to be enshrined in a contract may not allow Ukrainian companies to take the required four billion cubic meters of gas per year. On Friday, February 9, the newspaper “Kommersant” with reference to sources.
The publication became known, the principles on which will be calculated daily average volumes of deliveries of Russian gas to the modified contract between “Gazprom” and “Naftogaz”. The annual volume is now organized by quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, and then quarterly volume divided by the number of days in the quarter. Deviations from the average of the obtained values is possible in the range of six percent.
“The new annual contract amount assigned to the Stockholm arbitration, amounts to 5 billion cubic meters, the amount of required selection (take-or-pay) to 4 billion cubic meters”, — the newspaper notes. The maximum daily volume for “Naftogaz” will be in the first quarter of about 17.3 million cubic meters in the second — 11.4 million in the third — of 10.45 million in the fourth — 15.7 million cubic meters, according to “Kommersant”.
The head of “Naftogaz” Andrey KOBOLEV on 7 February stated that the company plans to resume purchases of Russian gas in March. According to the calculations of the newspaper, if “Naftogaz” will begin the 1st of March until the end of the year will lead him to maximum daily levels, he will be able to purchase 3.9 billion cubic meters — just below the mandatory 4 billion cubic meters.
In January, Korolev called the attractive price of Russian fuel, which after the decision of the court will be obliged to establish “Gazprom”. Arbitration ordered the Russian company to reduce the cost of thousand cubic meters of gas for Ukraine from 485 to 352 dollars.
“Naftogaz” and “Gazprom” have exchanged lawsuits in the Stockholm arbitration in 2014. From 2015 Ukraine did not buy Russian gas.
