The world anti-doping Agency (WADA) approved the decision of the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Friday, February 9, rejected the appeals of 47 of the Russians in non-admission to the Olympics. This is stated in the official statement of the organization.
“This decision was good news for WADA. It will be the same for athletes and other people who care about a clean sport and integrity of the Game”, — said the head of the Agency Craig reedy.
He stressed the importance of the verdict before the opening ceremony of the Olympics. According to him, it will convince athletes and other participants in the Game in that they involve only “clean” athletes.
Earlier Friday, the CAS refused to consider the removal of 45 Russian athletes and two coaches from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) sanctions, calling it a “fair decision.” Thus, domestic athletes were deprived of the last chances to go to South Korea.
