The Moscow city court sentenced to 4.5 years of standard regime penal colony the former employee of the Main Directorate of economic security and counteraction of corruption (Guebipk) of the MIA of Russia Sergey Astafurov for abuse of authority against the owner of the Chelyabinsk pipe rolling plant (CHTPZ) Andrei Komarov and his lawyer, reports “Interfax”.
The trial was held behind closed doors, because the case is declassified.
According to the Agency, Astafurov was part of the team of the former head Guebipk of General Denis Sugrobov, sentenced to long term for the organization of a criminal group engaged in falsifying evidence and bribery.
According to investigators, Astafurov, working in the Department for combating crimes in the sphere of metallurgy, falsified some of the results of operatively-search actions, on the basis of which was prosecuted Komarov and his lawyer Alexander Shibanov.
In March 2014, they were charged with commercial bribery General Director of state enterprise “Promresurs” Vladimir Spiridonov. Two years later, the criminal case against Komarov and his lawyer was terminated in connection with absence of structure of a crime. Shibanov even achieved compensation for illegal criminal prosecution.
In February 2017, the Basmanny court of Moscow arrested the police Astafurova and his alleged accomplice — Spiridonova. A former employee of the interior Ministry categorically denied guilt. According to him, in fact, there is no evidence, called his prosecution “order” and “revenge of the oligarch Komarova”, notes RIA Novosti.
