The company Roshen, founded by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, called himself the sole owner of all the series of trade marks “Kyiv cake”. About it reported in a press release of the company.
The statement noted that the allegation is supported by a state certificate issued by the authorized state bodies.
In addition, the company cited a poll which showed that 72 percent of respondents called “Kiev” trademark of one manufacturer of cakes. In turn, the vast majority in this proportion relate the brand with the company Roshen.
In February Roshen sued to the network of shops “Auchan” with the requirement to stop to use the name of the cake. The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine in December fined the company “Kyivkhlib” 219 thousand hryvnias for the use of similar packaging design for Chocolate cake “Fairy key”.
In early January, a Russian court for intellectual property rights prematurely terminated the legal protection of a trademark Kremona “daughter” of the Ukrainian confectionery company Roshen because it is not. A lawsuit against Roshen filed individual entrepreneur Oleg Sochacki.
