The size of the average check of Russians in the shops in January fell by 10 percent in comparison with December, amounting to 527 rubles. This was reported in the research of holding “ROMIR”.
In General, the total amount of everyday consumer expenses of Russians fell sharply by 19 percent compared to the previous month. While in relation to January last year, a decline of only one percent.
Adjusted for inflation, which in January was 0.3 percent, and the annualized 2.2 percent drop in daily consumer spending became even more pronounced. The “ROMIR” notes that the cost of the Russians though and was on the level below 2013, 2015 and 2017, but exceeded that of 2012, 2014 and 2016.
Residents of all regions of the country have significantly reduced their spending in January, but the worst result was shown by the inhabitants of Siberia and the Far East who spent 27.8% less than in December. But the Russians living in the Volga Federal district showed the smallest compared with other regions, the decline (12.8 percent).
Among different income groups the most economical in January was nizkodohodnye in December, spent the most. So, for the month, their costs decreased by 21.4%. Annual cost reduction in this group also was the most significant, amounting to 6.7 percent.
