Russians for the year has increased the number of Bank accounts abroad. The most popular were banks in Switzerland, Spain, the UK, Germany and the United States. It is reported RT with reference to the data of Federal tax service.
As at 31 December 2017, the Russians had discovered more than 116 thousand foreign Bank accounts. A year earlier this figure was at 98 thousand. “According to the submitted in 2017 physical persons — residents notification about the opening of accounts in banks outside of territory of Russia, was opened about 27,2 thousand accounts,” — said the Agency. About 9 thousand of foreign accounts for the year 2017 were closed, the depositors reported to FNS.
The Ministry added that before the crisis, in 2013 the Russians have presented to the tax authorities of the order of 17.5 thousand of notification about opening of accounts abroad. Thus, in 2017 the number of notifications increased by 55 percent.
Bloomberg February 6 reported that the Russian oligarchs, “the Kremlin list” faced with extra inspections in American banks. Company Financial Integrity Network, which advises banks on financial threats, advised clients to consider the defendants in the U.S. list as “politically exposed persons” and test their operation with the utmost care.
The U.S. Treasury has introduced a “Kremlin report” at the end of January. It included the names of 210 high-ranking officials and oligarchs from Russia. The report did not mean the imposition of sanctions, although the head of Department Steven Mnuchin reported that US authorities are considering restrictions “against bad personalities and companies”.
