The Russian forward club of the National hockey League (NHL) “Washington capitals” Alexander Ovechkin told him if he watches the Olympic games in Pyeongchang. The words of the athlete are presented in Twitter account TSN.

“The Olympics are not looking. Maybe I will watch only hockey tournament, but you know… Thanks to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman,” said Ovechkin.

In April 2017, the NHL refused to let the League players to the Olympics in Pyeongchang and made a calendar without any interruption to the competition. This happened due to the fact that the international Olympic Committee did not compensate the NHL’s financial losses from the participation of players in Games.

After the decision of the NHL, Ovechkin announced his intention to go for the Games in 2018. Soon, however, the athlete said that he was placed in circumstances where he has no chance to play in the Olympics.

“Olympic athletes of Russia” will hold the first match at the Olympics against Slovakia on 14 February at 15:10 Moscow time. In the group stage Russians will play with teams of Slovenia on February 16 and the US 17 Feb.
