Peskov called nonsense according to Ponomarev about the prerequisites to the annexation of Crimea

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the statement of former state Duma Deputy Ilya Ponomarev on the circumstances that influenced the decision of the Russian authorities to Annex the Crimea. About it reports “Interfax”.

According to Peskov, said the former parliamentarian is not true. In particular, Ponomarev said that Putin almost got into a plane crash, which was perceived as an encroachment on their lives. “This is nonsense”, — said the press Secretary on the question of the attempted assassination of the President.

Earlier, on 14 Feb Ponomarev testified in the Obolon court of Kyiv, where there were hearings about allegations of former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych of treason. In court, reports “Ukrainian truth”, the former MP said that at the end of February 2014, Putin almost got into a plane crash in Sochi: the helicopter in which he was, made a hard landing.

Ponomarev has declared that the Russian President allegedly took it as an attack involving foreign intelligence services. “And in the night from 22 to 23 February, was collected narrow meeting — I talked with one of the participants of this meeting can not call the name of the person, where, in addition to Putin, were four people from the top management of the Russian Federation and to discuss, what do we do in connection with the events in Ukraine”, — said Ponomarev added that at this meeting a decision was made about the annexation of Crimea.

The Peninsula became part of Russia after the March 2014 referendum in which the majority of voters the people of the region supported this decision. Kiev, the EU and the USA refused to recognize results of plebiscite. In Moscow insist that the accession of the region conform to the norms of international law.
