The scientists of far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) with colleagues from the Harbin engineering University (China) develop the world’s first ice bond Arctic, reports “Interfax”.
In the framework of the international winter school scientists conducted an experiment on the basis of physical methods of Russian scientists and technologies of information processing of Chinese researchers on the study of the new Arctic technology in the Novik Bay on the island of Russian. According to the head of testing, head of Department of instrumentation Engineering school of FEFU, Professor Vladimir Korochentsev, this could be a breakthrough in the development of the Arctic.
The basis of the experiment was developed by far East scientists, pneumatic, hydro-acoustic emitter. It distributes the sound waves in water and ice. Harbin colleague brought high-precision seismic receivers for measuring the vibration of the ice. The researchers plan to understand how elastic waves propagate in water and ice.
The invention on the basis of modern hydroacoustics will be used for exploration and production of oil and gas in the Arctic region.
Earlier it became known that Russian schoolchildren have discovered a new island in the Arctic: it was formed due to the melting glaciers of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago.
