Ukraine has to annually pay about $ 5 billion on servicing of external debt and the brunt of the burden falls on the family, said Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman. About it reports TASS.
According Groisman, at the end of 2017, Ukraine’s debt totaled $ 65 billion. He added that the government still cannot develop the economy without external financial support, therefore forced to borrow abroad.
In 2018 Ukraine will have to pay for foreign debt of 7.4 billion dollars, and by 2020, $ 16 billion. Last year the country’s debt in dollar terms grew by 7.5%, to 76.3 billion dollars (including state-guaranteed loans), and amounted to about 75 percent of GDP.
In turn, international reserves at the beginning of 2018 was 18.8 billion dollars, about a quarter of the external state and state guaranteed debt.
The IMF, on 1 February, gave a forecast that Ukrainians in the near future should not expect significant improvement in the lives. In late January, the IMF pledged in may to Ukraine the next tranche of $ 1.9 billion. But Kyiv has to fulfill a number of conditions, among them — increase of tariffs for gas.
