Russian President Vladimir Putin urged the FSB to effectively prevent attempts of the intelligence services of other countries to access to information political, economic and defence nature. The corresponding statement he made at the Board meeting of security agencies Monday, March 5, according to the Kremlin website.
“In recent years, as you know, recorded growth of activity of foreign intelligence services. They are very tight to work in Russia, using the most modern methods and intelligence, and technical intelligence. Only in the past year, was suppressed the activity of 72 officers and 397 of agents of foreign special services,” Putin said.
The President also set the FSB to strengthen the security of Russia’s information space from cyberthreats. According to him, it is necessary to improve the state system of detection, prevention and elimination of consequences of computer attacks on information resources of Russia.
Earlier on Monday, Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said of attempts by Washington to interfere in presidential elections in Russia. He stressed that all cases of “tightly and effectively engaged in our other related structures.” In turn, the head of temporary Commission of the Federation Council on the protection of sovereignty Andrei Klimov said that the US wants to introduce the upcoming elections illegitimate head of state.
