From 26 to 31 March in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, was to host the first country in the history of fashion Week Arab Fashion Week. However, three days before the opening of the event was canceled. It is reported by The New York Times.
Presumably, the reason could be visa problems faced by some Western models and journalists. According to another version, the most conservative members of the government opposed the holding of fashion shows.
The Arab fashion Council (Arab Fashion Council) has scheduled new dates for fashion Week. The screenings will be held from 10 to 15 April 2018 in hotel “Ritz Carlton” in Riyadh.
“The decision to postpone the event was taken only because we are unable to accommodate all the foreign visitors who apply for participation. We are eternally grateful for the trust and support that we received on this issue”, — said the Executive Director of the Arab fashion Council Abrian Jacob (Jacob Abrian).
Fashion forum with the participation of Arab and foreign designers will take place under the leadership of Princess Nura bint Faisal al Saud, honorary President of the Arab fashion Council.
In announcing this event, the Princess quoted the letter of the main Department of the country’s entertainment: “the Art community in Saudi Arabia is growing and gaining strength for the past several years, and management is confident that such an event as fashion week, will be a good platform to demonstrate the capabilities of talented designers and artists and will bring a new level of entertainment in Saudi Arabia”.
