Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said the former Minister of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev his friend and refused to admit that the ex-Minister guilty on charges of bribery. The head of the Ministry of Finance said in a Hard Day’s Night on the TV channel “Rain”.
“These decisions made by the court, the judiciary. Of course, I don’t want to believe that he is guilty. Once again, I don’t know what there is proof of right or wrong Alexei. Ultimately this ruling. To believe it I certainly do not want”, — said the head of the Ministry of Finance, noting that even after the arrest Ulyukayev considers their friend.
Siluanov also challenged the view that for the former head of Ministry of economic development no one stood up: “I can’t say that we have not stood up and stood up. I know a number of his comrades, colleagues, too, who also expressed his position in relation to doubts about the results that were the basis of court decisions”.
Answering the question about fear of the government, Siluanov assured that such fear is not. According to him, if you fear that decisions will be examined through the lobby of some of the groups, then nothing happens. The Ministry of Finance, according to the Minister, works as it sees fit and does not think that the decision of the office can promote someone’s interests.
Anton Siluanov and Alexei Ulyukayev has long worked in the state structures of Russia. They well know each other at work in the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of economic development and the Central Bank of Russia. Government Ministers Ulyukayev and Silvanus worked for more than three years. Ministers repeatedly argue with each other, because the ideology of agencies often involves a radically different opinion on budgetary and economic process in the country.
Ex-Minister of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev was found guilty of bribery, on 15 December 2017 ex-Minister sentenced to eight years imprisonment in a strict regime colony. According to investigators, the Minister demanded a bribe in the amount of two million dollars for the positive approval of the transaction for the privatization of “Bashneft”.
