Olympic champion from Ukraine regretted the prohibition to compete in Russia

Ukrainian sabre fencer Olga Kharlan commented on the decision of the authorities to prohibit athletes to participate in competitions on the territory of Russia. Her words quoted Xsport.

“For years we’ve traveled to “the Moscow sabre” — a traditional tournament on which I’ve won, and this year I had the opportunity to win the Grand Prix. But now I have no such possibility. I think we have to go there and prove that we are the best, as I did in years past. But it was decided that we should listen,” said Harlan.

This season, the 27-year-old athlete won two Grand Prix in Cancun and Seoul.

Harlan — the Olympic champion of the 2008 Games in the team sabre, a five-time world champion, seven-time European champion.

March 13, the Ukrainian authorities announced a temporary withdrawal from participation in sports competitions on the territory of Russia.
