Beaten by a parishioner, the guard of the mosque of St. Petersburg died in the hospital

Investigators opened a criminal case against 20-year-old man who severely beat 70-year-old security guard of the mosque of St. Petersburg. The victim fell into a coma and died in hospital from his injuries. This was reported by the press service of the city Department of the Investigative Committee.

The investigation is underway under article 111 of the criminal code (“Deliberate causing of heavy harm to health, entailed on imprudence death of the victim”).

According to authorities, the afternoon of 9 April, a young man for an unknown reason, quarrelled with the guard born in 1947, and then brutally beat him.

The suspect with evidence of mental illness, was taken to a psychiatric hospital. The question on election to it measures of restraint and arraignment.

“Fontanka” reported that the cause of the conflict between the parishioner and the guard became a theological debate. Arrived on-call doctors ascertained at the victim opened cherepno-a brain trauma, a bruise of the brain, coma of the third degree and hematoma on her left temple. The beating took place directly in the mosque between prayers.
