Doctors believe that shaving the bikini area can be harmful to women’s health. About it reports “Interfax”.
In the opinion of the gynecologist of the British Royal College of obstetricians and gynecologists Vanessa McKay, hair on labia and Mons pubis are necessary to maintain hygiene of women and protection from inflammatory diseases. She said that the hair create a natural barrier that reduces the contact of the vagina with viruses and bacteria and protects the skin of the vulva.
“Pubic hair protects from diseases and skin problems, prevent ingestion of foreign particles, dust and pathogenic bacteria and also control the moisture of your intimate areas, which reduces the chance of getting a fungal infection,” — said the gynecologist.
In addition, the removal of hair by shaving or hot wax creates microscopic wounds and damages the hair follicles, which can cause inflammation. Finally, pubic hair reduces the risk of contact “skin to skin” with a partner suffering from sexually transmitted diseases (e.g. human papillomavirus) and to avoid contamination.
Earlier in July 2018 British manufacturer of women’s shaving machine Friction Free Shaving showed the first ever television commercial in which the woman actually shaves their body hair. The company representatives said that this roller they intend to put an end to pre-existing ban to show the viewer the real hair on the female body.
