The Ministry of health of Primorsky Krai, Yakutia and the Ryazan region took the decision to impose a temporary moratorium on the operation of abortion in the framework of the action “give me life!”. About it writes “Kommersant”.
“Introducing a temporary ban on abortion, we emphasize the need of careful attitude to their health, remind about responsibility which you have to carry a man and a woman for their decisions and actions,” — said the chief physician of the Vladivostok maternity hospital №3 Svetlana Sagaydachny, without specifying how the moratorium will affect a responsible attitude to women.
The head of the Russian society of obstetricians-gynecologists Vladimir Serov has told the paper that this measure may adversely affect the life and health of patients. “The abortions we have allowed to take up to 12 weeks of pregnancy. But if a woman went to 12, then at 13 weeks abortion have to do it later, there is some risk that the surgery may have more complications,” he stressed.
The ban lasts from 31 July to 3 August. The promotion is organized by Foundation for socio-cultural initiatives in order to raise awareness.
In 2012, doctors got the right to refuse to perform abortion for religious reasons according to paragraph 3 of article 70, “doctor” of the law “About bases of health protection of citizens in Russia”.
In April it became known that the inhabitant of Stary Oskol (Belgorod oblast) have sent a “permission” for an abortion to the clergy: without his signature in a bypass sheet she refused to terminate the pregnancy.
